Journeys by Design is an independent adventure and exploration company curating classic safaris and privately guided travel experiences to Africa. Voted one of the world’s top ten ‘super agents’ by the Financial Times, we deliver the most extraordinary nature-based journeys, from quality time away with loved ones to wild and remote solo or group expeditions.

We are guided by a shared purpose of responsibly designing travel experiences that not only create life-long memories, but bring people into a deeper kinship with each other and the places explored. It is through these meaningful connections that we learn to understand how we relate to one another, nature, and the wider ecosystem.

A Journeys by Design itinerary aims to facilitate authentic participation with a place, its wildlife, and its communities. In doing so, we hope to shape a better way of travel that is sensitive to the climate, and of mutual benefit to both the host and traveller.
Our exploration specialists and travel design partners hold a deep knowledge of Africa’s vast and varied landscapes. A defining and unique quality is the fact that we have guides involved in designing trips alongside clients. Some of us are also based in Kenya or Botswana. Many of us grew up in Africa. It is this shared love and appreciation for Africa that keeps us inspired to explore miles from nowhere.
